Indra Club: Fiftieth Anniversary

It was fifty years ago today, that Bruno Koschmieder urged the band to play, at the stage of his Indra Club in Grosse Freiheit, Hamburg, Germany. I had to be there, and I am. I’ve got tickets for tonight’s concert with Bambi Kino, who are trying to recreate what they think The Beatles might have performed on that first of many Hamburg nights.

Today I ran into Horst Fascher, who managed the Star Club in 1962. He said he’d be at the concert tonight and if he remembered the lyrics, would sing the Ray Charles classic “Hallelujah I Love Her So” together with the band, just as he did on the infamous “The Beatles Live at the Star Club, Hamburg, 1962” album.

I was interviewed by local TV Hamburg 1 briefly, and if you saw it and taped it, I want it. Also, tonights concert will be filmed and eventually broadcast on the Arte TV station on August 29th. So I’d be interested in a DVD from that as well. Get in touch on roger@norwegianwood.org.

The plaque is a proof that The Beatles left Liverpool on 15th August, arriving in Hamburg on the evrning of 16th with no time left to begining to play the same night. Só they started on 17th
