I’m sorry but very disappointed with so many repeats from anthology. Giles Martin continues to let us down.

    • William Campbell says:

He sure does. And absolutely nothing from “Good Day Sunshine?” Couldn’t the lesser Martin at least make an instrumental version?

      • Jack Liumber says:

Make an instrumental version by adding some beats? Making something the Beatles didn’t even create?

        • William Campbell says:

Uh, by leaving out the vocals. What does ‘adding some beats’ have to do with an instrumental version (i.e. with instruments only)? Isn’t the lesser Martin digitally extracting all of the vocals and instruments as separate tracks, and then remixing them for this release?

        • Win Corr says:

They created. He mean the stripped down takes. Or hearing versions of instrumental passages. There were so many musical opportunitues missed in Sgt Pepper Box. For example there is the the instrumental called ‘Anything’ and the recordings they did on the first day after the Pepper release which were meandering instrumentals. That’s what should be on the Box Sets.

      • Andy Harris says:

Good Day Sunshine Take 1 was on Revolver, so unless they had the live take before overdubs then I guess that’s the reason it’s excluded although with the latest Peter Jackson software they could have recreated it.

        • nateboy2 says:

They used take 1. But, I think there were also two additional takes attempted until they returned back to take 1 for the overdubs.

        • Ludwig says:

There were three basic takes of “Good Day Sunshine” recorded 8th June 1966. Take 1 was used with overdubs (GM’s piano, harmony,, drum overdubs, hand claps etc.) creating Take 4 on 9th June.

There were also studio rehearsals on the 8th June 1966 that may of been recorded to tape.

    • Brian says:

Only 6 out of 31 tracks are from Anthology…
And they’re not even gonna be the exact same versions. Previous boxsets can prove that.
I get the impression you’re one of those Giles haters who’s first thought is to find fault before giving anything a chance.
      Disappointed? Don’t buy it!
      It’s as simple as that.

    • Mats says:

Hang on guys, there is not that much of material or interesting stuff left, I think he’s done his best…..

  2. Mike says:

You do understand the track list is just speculation? No official track list has been announced that I am aware of.

  3. nateboy2 says:

I’m still holding out hope for the aborted take 2 of Tomorrow Never Knows.

  4. David Thomas says:

The lack of blu-ray containing the Dolby Atmos mix is very disappointing. I refuse to subscribe to an entire service to get something that should have been included in a deluxe package.

  5. Revolver comments go here?

For a second I thought I wandered into the Debbie Downer comment section. 🫤

    Get a grip, folks.

The box set looks freaking great!

  6. Regina M Marns says:

Wow, now I know I am in true Beatle land…Thank you for the info. I just found this.

  7. Blakey says:

It looks like Lewisohn has been banned from this upcoming Revolver box set. A real shame, as he really knows his Beatles.

    Questlove?! I ask you?…..
