Streaming the rooftop concert

Why not just put out on a actual CD?

  2. Rickenbacker325 says:

I I believe it’s also going to be available in the standard iTunes Store…so it should at the very least be downloadable

  3. MattTC1028 says:

They removed the link for download from the iTunes store, so unfortunately this appears to be streaming only. The press release mentioning “global streaming” over and over seems leads one to believe this won’t be available for purchase anywhere.

  4. Rickenbacker325 says:

Correction…it was listed this morning as an iTunes download but has since disappeared

  5. Peter says:

How do they STILL not realize that releasing it this way is what leads to it becoming yet another bootleg?

  6. Rip says:

Ridiculous that this was not included in the “Let it Be” boxed set—along with all the filmed studio performances of full songs. Absolutely ridiculous.

Remember the audio is by Universal and the video is by Disney. By releasing the streaming audio rooftop by Universal the selling point for IMAX video and the later a dvd/blu-ray box by Disney is not perfect. So it’s give and take for Apple Corps to let both have some uniquematerial.

But Apple, Universal and Disney are united to celebrate january 30 by having both audio and video.

They love to dangle the steaming carrot first on the “Get Back” campaign while leaving the old school/hardcore fans to wait…..for the eventual physical release. I can see it now; CD/LP release paired with the re-release of the Get Back documentary (in expanded form) in 2023…

    • Brian from Canada says:

That, or the eventual release of Let It Be. It was promised, and it does have the rooftop in there. My guess is still that Let It Be will be the Christmas release, with possibly more material from that.

Thank you, Roger. The opportunity won’t come again. Let the merchandising begin.
Wow! What a turn of events. Dare we dream of multi-track recordings?
This would have been a better EP for the SDE disc 5.
    Under the BORED-walk?
    Not today…
    Up on the…roof!

  9. Ted Pastuszak Jr says:

Just out of curiosity, what ever became of Mark Lewisohn as the go-to Beatles historian?

  10. Martijn says:

This is mega disappointing. Streaming only? Way to alienate your fanbase. Also this could EASILY have fit on that “EP” in the Deluxe box set. And then the dvd/bluray release has no extras? I’m disappointed.

  11. Tony Littman says:

    It sounds fantastic! Play loud!

  12. Glenn Milam says:

Still not 100% as advertised. John’s flubbed line in Don’t Let Me Down has been fixed.

  13. John Kaelin says:

I’m happy when anything is released. I listened to this at midnight on Apple Music when it dropped in the US. It’s an event. Objectively speaking, a band that broke up over 50 years ago is not expected to have such grand events. But this is The Beatles!!! I do think a physical copy is coming now and we will all look forward to it. Not counting the reissue anniversary box sets, a “new” Beatles album hasn’t been released since 2016 (Ron Howard project) so it’s been a while.
