One double super album

i read somewhere that in fact it is 24X Platinum because it's a double Lp (they count every disc in each album). So in reality they sold "only" 12 000 000 copies, then as much as Abbey Road.

White album. Listened to it. Didn't like it.

  3. William Campbell says:

Brill Building is correct: 12 million copies of the ALBUM were sold, not 24 million. And this is far from a 'super album.' More hyperbole used as click bait.

  4. Unknown says:

The explanation is simple: each million seller wins a PLATINUM, Every 10 million and counting deserves a DIAMOND award. Go to the RIIA site and everything is explained as clear as water.

I'm with Mr Martin (and Ringo). Too much to digest on the White Album. Should have been a Revolver-style single LP, packed with top quality.

  6. Edward R says:

So popper, what would you leave off the white album?

I can do without Wild Honey Pie, Why Don't We Do It In The Road, Yer Blues, Birthday, Honey Pie, Goodnight, Piggies, Bungalow Bill, Savoy Truffle, and maybe one or two others.

For me, a balanced album taking into account the various writers would be something like,

While My Guitar Gently Weeps / Dear Prudence / Mother Nature's Son / Don't Pass Me By / I Will / Cry Baby Cry

Back In The USSR / Martha My Dear / Julia / Sexy Sadie / Blackbird / Happiness Is A Warm Gun / Long, Long, Long
