Red and Blue Boxed Set

Outtake from the photo session

In conjunction with the upcoming releases of the Beatles’ Red and Blue Albums (aka “1962-1966” and “1967-1970”), Amazon in the UK features a boxed set: “The Beatles 1962-1970”. It’s 4 discs and has the same release date of October 18th, so it looks like a combo of the red and blue albums. There’s no picture of the product, and it’s priced at £21.99, whereas the regular remastered red and blue albums are priced at £8.95 (the pre-order price is as single disc CD albums, but this price will rise in the future). UK based record stores HMV and Play are also listing it, Play describing it as “This 2x 2CD album comes in a 6 panel digipack with a 32 page booklet in a rigid o-card” Eil has another view: “Each set comes presented in triple panel card sleeves [using conservation grade FSC paper] and housed together in an outer slipcase, complete with an expanded 32-page picture booklet containing original liner notes, newly written essays by Bill Flanagan, and rare photos).” Eil also mentions that the set is “available until 31st December 2010 only”. We have no idea what’s going on here, but I’m sure details will be forthcoming.
