I found it on Beatlefan's facebook page, but it didn't originate there. So far, I've been able to trace it back to it's pre-facebook appearance in a russian Beatles forum.
Interesting. Your original post said it started making the rounds on Facebook on Monday but I saw it there on Sunday so it might've been there before the Russians got a hold of it. Anyways, here's a ton of fun info on the cover. Your blogs have obviously influenced my thoroughness! yerdoingreat.wordpress.com/2013/01/23/famous-rockroll-image-outtakes-vol-2-rubber-soul/
Certainly more thorough than I've been able to be for the past year or so! You might want to correct the typo, not Roger but Robert Whitaker 😉 Great blog!
Hi – one expert – who wants to remain unnamed – told me he is very confident that this is a photoshop recreation. Personally I cant imagine. Were light blue jeans avaiiable in 1965?
I had an original album with double printed overlapped picture.I took it back as a misprint!!!! Oh dear if I only had known.Bought in Brentwood Essex.England.Did anyone buy it after me;or did it get sent back to E.M.I ?
I think it’s a shame that one can’t Save this image as a .jpg At least, not on my browser or laptop. Only as a “webpage” file, which then will not display. Is this a trick to stop people from downloading the image?
Just when you think you seen it all, some gem pops up out of nowhere to surprise and delight!
Now its hard to look at the cover of Rubber Soul without thinking of this "new" photo. Thanks for posting!
Nice discovery. On which Facebookpage circulated this photo?Kind regards from Holland.

Done/thanks! Cheers.
I think I like it even more then the distorted cover.
Amazing! Thank you for sharing!
Nothing beats the fish-eye. Except… knowing Dr. Winston O'Boogie is sporting pre-hipster wrecked serge de nimes!

Light blue Jeans were certainly on sale in the USA in 1965. That’s probably where John got them from.
Jeans that have been put through the washer many times were certainly available.

I right clicked it, and selected save image as jpg. No problem.
