The Beatles in the charts – worldwide

Mark Hutchinson, an Australian long term Beatles fan since the late sixties has taken on the task of compiling a project we actually have been requesting in the past, The Beatles in the charts from every country they charted in. A major task, and you will need a lot of sources from which to mine for chart information.
He has been compiling the worldwide weekly charts since August 2021, dating back to The Beatles first chart appearance in Germany in 1961. A daily labour since, Mark has been working five hours a day on this project.
The full project itself covers The Beatles as a group, solo, song writing, covers, production as well as Apple releases and publishing chart performance. The complete project covers all major UK and US Chart placements for singles, EP’s and albums as well as worldwide chart placements.
During his research, Mark is startled to find that ever since “Love Me Do” first appeared on the UK Charts, week ending 17 October 1962, at least one Beatles or solo record have been in the charts week after week. Either in the UK or the USA or elsewhere in the world. In fact, there are only four weeks worth of compiled charts the Beatles or members of the Beatles have been away for:
- September 4, 1999
- September 11, 1999
- August 14, 2010
- July 16, 2011
As per below, the following is Mark’s list of the Beatles number 1’s worldwide, all 483 of them (so far, the research is still going on).
This does not include solo’s etc. The Bold text are singles or EP’s which were put together locally and were not released as singles in the U.K. or the U.S.A.
You may also find that some albums found their way to the singles list in Zimbabwe. The final info on each line is either the chart in question or the source of the mentioned chart position.

It states that the Beatles charted 366 individual No. 1’s in 42 countries.
I have looked at my data and compiled an up to date No. 1 chart placement from various countries.
There are approximately 483 No. 1’s from my research [not complete]
I do have a Top 5 and Top 10 breakdown however I will leave at No. 1’s.
Where there is an = equal sign I have counted that as 1 placement. [Double A Side]

I always wondered why Rock And Roll Music was featured in 1965/66 live sets in Europe and the far east, living in the UK I had no idea it had been such a huge worldwide hit!
My shock was seeing Anna on the chart for Brazil in 1967.
My disappointment is that You Know My Name didn’t go to number one anywhere. ☹️

According to Billboard edition for the week of 28 June 1970 – 4 July 1970
and 5 July 1970 – 11 July 1970 Billboard states that You Know My Name reached 6 and 8 in Poland for those two weeks.
As for Anna reached No. 1 in Brazil, as recorded by Record World Magazine
during the week of 29 October 1967 – 4 November 1967.
