A is for Apple vol 4
APCOR NEWSLETTER JULY 2022: A IS FOR APPLE VOLUME 4
Hello all!
When we started this 4th volume of A Is For Apple, we almost instantly got caught up in the COVID-19 disaster, which influenced all our lives in a dramatic way. This volume was written and compiled mostly in lockdown and when we were close to having it published earlier this year, another set of gremlins caught up with us – too many setbacks to mention but now we are glad we can finally announce: A Is For Apple Volume 4: The End Of The Beatles (September 1969 to April 1970) is close to being published, finally!
Between September 1969 and April 1970, The Beatles broke up. This book, the fourth instalment of the A Is For Apple series, traces developments after the release of their last recorded LP, Abbey Road, up until April 1970 when Paul McCartney finally announced that he had quit the group.
The momentum of those seven months has never been examined in detail before now. Newly discovered sources and documents allow an unprecedented look at what really happened behind the walls of 3 Savile Row. How a phone call from a Canadian promotor literally led to John Lennon’s decision to leave The Beatles. How George Harrison found artistic freedom as a sideman on stage with Delaney and Bonnie. How Ringo became the first Beatle to whole-heartedly pursue a solo career. And, finally, how Paul McCartney created a definitive promotional event to become a solo artist in his own right.
But there was also business as usual at Apple with Grapefruit also breaking up, The Iveys becoming Badfinger, Mary Hopkin appearing at the Eurovision Song Contest, Billy Preston and Doris Troy recording with George Harrison and Jackie Lomax forming a new group.
Read all about this and more in this fact-filled COVID-19 lockdown extravaganza with countless rare and never-before-seen photographs and documents, plus extended discographies of Abbey Road, Live Peace In Toronto 1969, Sentimental Journeyand many other Apple releases.
Clocking in at 728 pages, this hardcover, A4-sized, full-colour book will be made available in September 2022 in a strictly limited edition of 500 individually numbered copies. Pre-ordering starts today – don’t miss this 4th instalment in this series about all things Apple.
Even though we have tried our best to keep the sales price as low as possible, due to the increased price of raw materials, printing, shipping costs etc., we have had to set the price of this book at 95 Euros. Please note that we have no influence over the (high) cost of international shipping.

I wish I could afford these books. They look incredible.
This series is becoming too expensive for me …
I’m stopping after Ram is covered, assuming I still have some money left at that time. I wanted to confirm the release date of the album to see if this is even remotely doable in Vol. 5 (extremely unlikely). A Google search enlightens us: “Ram. Album by Linda McCartney and Paul McCartney.”
