Back to Abbey Road
Monday the 12th of December, celebrities gathered in Abbey Road Studios for a premiere screening of Mary McCartney’s documentary about the studios, “If these walls could sing”. The documentary airs on Disney+ from January 6 (delayed from Dec 16), while the advance premiere screening attracted some of the participants.
Guests included Elton John and his husband David Furnish, sixties model Lesley “Twiggy” Lawson and husband Leigh, Spice Girl Melanie C, Nick Mason from Pink Floyd, Paul and Ringo with wives Nancy Shevell and Barbara Bach, Paul’s daughters Stella and Mary, and son James (with unnamed female guest), as well as Beatles remixer Giles Martin. Dhani Harrison and his mother Olivia were also present, Dhani’s guest was Mereki Beach from Los Angeles.
Ringo was asked what his favourite memory of Abbey Road Studios was, to which he replied: “Leaving!”
this comes decades too late. all the people who could share their memories and tell some funny stories like emerick, martin and so on, have gone. still, better than nothin…
Ringo’s very funny in that clip and is it just me or is Nancy getting younger??!
Wish I’d been outside the studios on Monday to see them all arrive.
Its just you.
Ringo seems a little bit out of it. I hope he’s doing ok.
“We were blessed that we got a record deal because of George Martin … we were refused by many record labels.” You could be forgiven for thinking Ringo was in the band before they got a deal with George Martin.
I hope members of The Hollies and Pink Floyd are interviewed for this film.
Thought it was very good.
Highly recommend this. A very engaging film to watch.
Thanks for sharing. I read many of your blog posts, cool, your blog is very good.
