Beatles back to mono

The 2014 boxed set of The Beates albums in mono is about to be rereleased for the first time since the original pressings.
This second edition promises to be identical to the initial boxed set, which has been commanding triple the original retail price of late, due to its scarcity.

We are guessing prices will drop now that the official Beatles stores are offering them at roughly the same price as back in 2014, allowing for inflation.

The set will now only be available from those official stores, with shipping commencing July 18.

  1. And what about The Beatles in Mono CD box?
I own the original Japanese EMI Toshiba box
    What a sound …
…The Japan pressings sound better than the EU whether US pressings

And when Rubber Soul “ revisited” ?

I don’t expect to ever see a revisited Rubber Soul. I think the closest we will get to further back catalog remixes is the expanded Red album.

Well, if the reissue in the US is *already* sold out AGAIN, I suppose the prices on the secondary market will remain high. I only hope all these new sales aren’t going purely to speculators looking to cash in as resales.

You mean ‘flippers’, and yes that’s probably who’s buying them. That’s why there should be a limit of 1 per customer.

I just hope this doesn’t count as this year’s big release from the Beatles catalogue. We’ve had two years now of disappointing annual releases. The mono box was run on sale the day it first came out> It was considerably cheaper than the stereo box.

Since the departure of Jeff Jones, it seems that Apple are not bothered any more.
Since 2022 and Revolver, there’s been nothing of note apart from Now and Then.

Will Apple now – ironically – become like ABKCO and the early Stones catalogue? Re-releasing already released stuff and nothing else over and over?

    • Tim Wilson says:

There is so much more that can be done and be legitimately welcomed as worthwhile and not a re-has or rip-off. Just to name a few:
      1. Upgrading Anthology including more and improved quality videos of music and interviews as mentioned here before. Include the Hey Jude recording rehearsal footage, too. Reworking All You Need Is Love with colorization replacing the prior marginal looking prior effort.
      2. Releasing an improved Shea Stadium concert using current film and sound technology.
      3. Collating the final 1966 tour into one concert using improved sound technology now available and high-resolution film transfers.

no creo sea éste el único lanzamiento de los beatles para este año…. qué decepción sería
