Both One to One concerts to be released
In the recent Record Store Day Podcast With Paul Myers, Sean Lennon says that a box set of the two One to One Concerts will be released this October.
This in addition to the upcoming Record Store Day vinyl EP.
This is indeed good news, as we have been anticipating a better representation of the One to One concerts than the “Live in New York City” products from 1985 ever since Yoko Ono gave Jack Douglas the task of making a better film with better audio. Douglas mentioned the project in 2013, and as far as we know, he finished the job many years ago. And nothing happened.
Sean Lennon now seems to have taken the matter into his own hands and if he has done a job as thorough as the marketing plans for “Mind Games”, we are in for a real treat. More work may have gone into the project, and if you have seen the “One to One: John and Yoko” documentary, you will have seen glimpses of the quality footage from the concerts now are presented in. The boxed set Sean mentions in the podcast is to contain “all the music” of the two concerts, but we do hope that film will be part of the set, or otherwise released as well.
We are guessing that the concert film and audio were brought out of the archives and readied for release in conjunction with the aborted 50 year anniversary release of “Some Time in New York City”.
I remember getting a VHS copy of it many years ago. The audio mix was weird, especially the drums. The same feeling I had when the CD was released. I hope this will be the right one.
So will we be getting two versions of The Song Which Cannot Be Named as it was performed at both shows?
