Colourful Christmas from John and Paul
A boxful of Christmas singles
Universal Music is releasing a box set of old Christmas singles with original sleeves but on coloured vinyl. Due out October 31st, two of the singles are from John and Paul. John and Yoko’s “Happy Xmas (War is Over)” was out on green vinyl originally, and now gets a re-release in the original colour. Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime” now gets re-released on yellow vinyl. Both are holiday favourites which each year pop up in the singles charts and are played a lot in supermarkets and on the radio during the holiday season (which seems to get longer each year).
John and Paul’s contributions can be ordered separately, from the online shops of each artist: “Happy Xmas (War is Over)” / “Wonderful Christmastime” but you may be lucky and find an online store with both singles and save postage. I blame the Jackson Five for changing Santa Claus Is Coming To Town so that every subsequent rendering copies the title line being sung three times in the chorus instead of just once, as originally done. This annoys me, for no apparent reason.
The only Jacksons with any talent at all are Chuck, Joe, and Wanda.
