George’s MTV rehearsal
Two new videos with George Harrison were recently uploaded, from when he and the band were rehearsing for the Natural Law Party – Royal Albert Hall performance in 1992. The rehearsals took place at Shepperton Studios and MTV was there to make a feature for MTV news ahead of the concert.
The band was the same one he had used on the tour of Japan with Eric Clapton the previous year, but minus Eric, who was replaced by Gary Moore. Ringo also appeared at the concert itself, but he is not in this recording.
Now someone has obtained the raw footage of the song George and the band performing for the TV cameras, “Taxman”, as well as the interview he gave to MTV. The TV company only showed glimpses of this in their newscast, but here is the full song and the uncut interview! So let’s hope this is allowed to stay on YouTube.
It was interesting to hear two extra verses towards the end and to see that he updated the “Mr Wilson” and “Mr Heath” from the original version!

Yes, Gary wasn’t at this rehearsal, but he played at the concert. https://www.georgeharrison.com/gary-moore-1952-2011/
For the encore only. Clapton was replaced by Campbell.
Brilliant. Loved watching those. Thanks for posting them.
I remember the NLP launch and their publicity at the time and their close links with George who acted as a kind of evangelist for them. They promised to teach everyone yogic flying and on the back of that I voted for them!
Question: last year (I think) somebody posted some footage of George performing live online (Twitter).
They’d taken good quality video and synced it with good quality live recording and the resulting footage was excellent.
There was a lot of chatter about it on Twittter (as was) at the time. I’d love to watch it again but can’t find it and don’t have any more info about it.
I’m not on X now so can’t check there.
Anybody got any clues about where I might find that footage?
Thanks!
But footage from which concert you are talking about?
Yeah, if I knew that I’d not be asking…

a strange interview – showing how out of touch with reality George was. A huge lover of F1 advocating less cars on the road, and suggesting people wouldn’t get cancer if they were more intelligent. I mean you might be able to make a weak connection there, but its still a pretty insulting statement.
Yes, you can see why they only chose to broadcast a tiny fragment of this. I recall that Paul said that, around this time, George called him up and was banging on about Natural Law and claiming that they had some [other] guy who could levitate and fly, and Paul remarked along the lines of “Well George, any time he wants to do it live on TV there’s a million pounds waiting.” We’re all glad George trod the boards one final time, and the YouTube footage shows it to be a good concert, but again, the logic [sic] of playing a concert at a pre-known financial loss to raise funds to NL is a bit awol. Simply give them a tax-free charity donation, to semi-quote Bob Dylan.
George saying that illness is a disease of society it akin to saying that there are environmental causes that make people sick (and that includes cancer)-I would definitely agree. Perhaps it was an overstatement in the manner he expressed it, but I don’t think that makes him detached from reality at all. The focus on health rather than illness goes a long way in preventing disease.
To support a good cause, regardless of how futile in may appear to be, is a noble effort and
shows how altruistic he often was.
Totally agree
