Material World remix etc

So, the Harrison estate is finally bringing us the 50th anniversary edition of “Living In The Material World”, and releases this preview. This is a bonus track, take 18 of the hit song of the album, “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)”.

“In honor of its 50th Anniversary, George Harrison’s Living In The Material album has been completely remixed from the original tapes for a stunning suite of 50th anniversary releases. Lovingly overseen by Dhani and Olivia Harrison, the album was remixed by triple GRAMMY® Award winner Paul Hicks.”

So it’s “a stunning suite” of releases, let’s just hope it falls a bit short of the “Mind Games” cube Sean and Yoko delivered. We’d hate to see this escalate.

  1. wardo says:

At least disc 2 of this is alternate takes, whereas the Mind Games box presented five variations of each of the same 12 master takes.

    • Ronald says:

There was a CD of outtakes for the 11 songs, with one more as a “hidden track”. Plus a take of I’m The Greatest.

      • wardo says:

Yes. But there were still 5 discs of the same 12 performances. Including Nutopian International Anthem.

        • Ronald says:

Three discs maybe, because one isolates individual instruments, and another shows how the song developed from demos or from the first take. The others are reworkings of the master take, intended to enhance John’s vocals. In 1970, the Beatles released different versions of the same take of Get Back, Across The Universe and Let It Be, all of which which had previously been released.

        • Andrew John Holliday says:

I think I preferred the 3rd remix of the Nutopian anthem.

    • Matt says:

No, there were alternate takes on MIND GAMES.

  2. debjorgo says:

I understand why people who like LPs would want the CDs, but why would anyone who likes CDs want the LPs?

  3. Tony says:

I wish there were more outtakes

  4. Andreas Müller says:

Is “Sunshine Life For Me” really only on the single and CD 2 of the Super Deluxe Box, but not on CD 2 of the Deluxe CD-edition? WTF!! 🤔😢😡

  5. Mich says:

Blu Ray Ford George and John, that’s great. Why Apple doesn’t do they same with they Beatles?

  6. Christian says:

Seems like the only one who can do those boxes right is Paul. Even the Beatles-Boxes are not satisfying compared to what there would be to show…

  7. Mikey says:

Fantastic! So looking forward to hearing George’s lead vocal on Sunshine Life For Me (Sail Away Raymond). It was great to hear John’s lead vocals on I’m the Greatest on the Mind Games Box Set. Honestly, I appreciate any releases from the Beatles, together or solo. It would be awesome if Apple one day releases George’s lead vocals on It Don’t Come Easy. I certainly hope there will be boxed sets of Cloud Nine & Brainwashed.

  8. Ian Drummond says:

Wasnt it released in 1973- ie 51st anniversary
