Two seventies video clips with Ringo

A couple of video clips (one is actually a film clip) has appeared on YouTube recently, with Ringo Starr. The best one of these is a clip from the Smothers Brothers Show, with Ringo and the brothers performing his “No No Song” – several years before he began to say “no”.

Hoyt Axton’s “No No Song” performed by Ringo Starr was released as a single in 1975 and reached #3 on the Billboard charts, becoming his 7th and final top 10 hit.

The clip has been circulating among Beatles video collectors for years, but never in the pristine quality now uploaded to the official Smothers Brothers channel on YouTube.

The other clip is from a silent amateur film of Ringo with Harry Nilsson at the premiere of the Son of Dracula movie. The latter provided by young Adam Bound, whose channel one ought to subscribe to.

Says Adam:

Hey everyone,

I am excited to release this brand-new footage of Ringo Starr and Harry Nilsson at the midnight premiere of the film “Son of Dracula” at the Cherokee Theater in Atlanta, GA on April 19th, 1974.

We have previously only had documentation of this event through a handful of black and white photos, but now we have this beautiful color film of the event. This film was shot by the ever-generous Ron Gerber, who also filmed George Harrison in 1974 (which is on this channel), as well as several other bands I have been able to get scanned. Although this film is unfortunately silent, it is still a great document to have! Due to no audio being available, I have two songs from the soundtrack, “At My Front Door” and “Jump Into The Fire” playing over it.

A special thanks to Nuff ‪@ThePFRG‬ for his excellent color correction, Beatle-ed for paying the scanning cost, and Quazza for the excellent 4K scan!
