Wings One Hand Clapping Coming to Television
Rumour is it was rejected due to quality reasons when offered to TV stations fifty years ago, now it will be televised in the U.K.
The “One Hand Clapping” made-for-TV film of Wings and Paul McCartney rehearsing in the EMI Studios in Abbey Road in 1974 was a cinematic event earlier this year. After fifty years, it is finally destined for television screening. This occurs on Boxing Day, December 26 on the TV channels Sky Arts and Now, Sky Group informs us.
Of course, we are hoping the film will also be televised elsewhere. The TV edition is likely to also feature Paul’s solo “Backyard session”, like the version which hit cinemas earlier this year.
At the time, Wings consisted of Paul, Linda, Denny Laine, Jimmy McCulloch and Geoff Britton. Britton was asked to leave the group soon thereafter. He will be one of the guests of next year’s Beatle Week in Liverpool.
“One Hand Clapping” was released in album form on 14 June 2024. Read Mike Carrera’s blow-by-blow of the album here.
Yes, of course Boxing Day has always proved to be a very successful time to air Beatles films…
I think they will be showing it in black and white!
Ha ha..very good 🙂
I recall the revelry, sing songs and joking between my family and our neighbours Boxing Day 1967. Then the baffled faces, deathly silence and ‘What the —-‘ looks as we gathered round the telly as the black and white Magical Mystery Tour aired.
My dad said ‘What the hell was that? Was that The Beatles?’
I watched the BBC TV programs on BBc 1 & 2, nothing about “one hand clapping” on boxing day !
“This occurs on Boxing Day, December 26 on the TV channels Sky Arts and Now, Sky Group informs us.”
It’s on Sky Arts, not BBC
Great stuff……At long last 🍷🍷👍👌👌
A project screened in theaters will now be a TV event???? So…”Tell Me Why”…Shea Stadium is still collecting dust on the Apple shelves 8 years after being included in a cinematic event (screened as a bonus to the Eight Days A Week project).
Is Peter Jackson working on an even better upgrade? It’s criminal that this concert is not available.
Tonight, 27 Dec, on Belgian TV, Canvas, 20.40 (I saw it this year in the cinema, but will be watching again)
