French Anthologies not remastered

The first release: Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band

Thanks to our reader, Zong’ Zongadude for sending us these photos of the first of the French re-releases we told you about yesterday. He also noticed that on the back of the package is a small message, saying “Only the 14 first titles are remastered.” That means all the original albums + Past Masters. The Anthology albums are therefore not remastered.

On the back of the package you can see in which order the albums will be released, with “Abbey Road” coming up on Thursday next week, followed by “The Beatles” in a fortnight. Unlike the Spanish and Italian series, there seems to have been no cardboard slipcase box manufactured for this French series of albums.

Erm…bewildered how anyone, in any language, can read 'Only he first 14 titles are remastered' as meaning anything other than 'everything up to 'Love' on this here illustration of release order'.

I mean it hardly means 'the first 14 titles on Sgt Pepper, does it?'

In other words, the canon albums ARE remastered!

Who's having problems understanding what they are reading?

    And by "…are remastered", you've gotta understand: "…were remastered in 2009" ๐Ÿ™‚

And judging from the copy of Pepper included, these cds are exactly the same as the actual retail versions. With documentaries on the discs, rich booklets, the digipacks…

To be precise: "La remasterisation ne concerne que les 14 premiers albums"

Ugh. Apologies. It's not my misreading of what I thought was a misreading of the text on the french thing but my misreading of the thing on the french thing that was posted.

    Clear?

    Thought not.

In other words, I'd read the 'French anthologies not remastered' as referring to the set of reissues overall.

Can I say though that the idea of 'remastering' Anthology and calls for this from the frothing collectosphere (Twitsphere with added CA$H) is just shy of ludicrous.
Since Anthology's release derives from mid-90's technology which has not been upscaled significantly since then, 'remastering' in their case assumes some kind of aspect of 'branding' and 'marketing' not the involved technical process that was involved in bringing historic master tapes into the 21st century, especially as they were originally mastered digitally!
