    It bugs me a little when people refer to the fifth Beatle. There were five Beatles – one should remember to count Pete Best who was a fully-fledge member of The Beatles. Brian Epstein (or George Martin, or Billy Preston, or whoever) should be described as the sixth Beatle.

    Well, if you want to do it chronologically, Stuart was the fourth Beatle, Pete the fifth and than makes Ringo the sixth Beatle…

    True, he was a member for a while, but he didn't record anything with them (except that old home-made tape). Her was one of a string of personnel who came and went, whereas Pete was longer term and recorded at Abbey Road, as well as the Decca stuff and the Tony Sheridan tracks, and some BBC stuff. I'd say he was a full member.
