A Hard Day’s Night in 4k

A HARD DAYS NIGHT 4K ULTRA HD 2021

A Hard Day’s Night to be re-released in high definition in 2021

The first film starring the Beatles, “A Hard Days Night”, will be released on January 30, 2021 in 4K Ultra HD + 2 Blu-ray, according to Amazon in Japan. Since it was already out in 4K in 2014 with a remade soundtrack by Giles Martin, the new release just adds another disc format. Ultra HD Blu-ray (marketed as 4K Ultra HD) (UHD-BD) is a digital optical disc data storage format that is an enhanced variant of Blu-ray. Ultra HD Blu-ray discs are incompatible with existing standard Blu-ray players (though in most cases, a traditional Blu-ray and digital copy has been packaged with the Ultra HD Blu-ray discs). Ultra HD Blu-ray supports 4K UHD (3840 × 2160 pixel resolution) video at frame rates up to 60 progressive frames per second,[2] encoded using High Efficiency Video Coding. So that’s the difference, we assume.

And just how much will the 4K set be?

  2. William Campbell says:

“Since it was already out in 4K in 2014…” ‘Out?’ Who could buy it in 2014? Was it only broadcast? Streamed? Was it available for purchase? A little clarity would be appreciated.

  3. Karl says:

even though the 2014 release was scanned in 4k, a blu-ray disc isn’t capable of full 4k. So the 2014 release was a 1080p disc of a 4K scan. The UHD disc will enable the movie to actually be seen in full 4K resolution. Can’t wait to see this!

  5. Reed says:

If it is coming from Japan, will it be region coded? I don’t have a 4K player (yet), but want to make sure it will play in the States.

  6. Albert Reichenbach says:

Does the 4K have an HDR format or not? If so, is it HDR 10 or Dolby Vision?

  7. Cam Hamon says:

So we’re in long past that release date and still no 4K release.
