The Beatles Anthology Episode 9

USA Today has been given the opportunity to watch episode 9 of the upcoming Anthology series. As we recall from when the series was released on DVD in 2003, it consisted of 8 episodes spread across four DVDs, as well as an additional 81-minute “Special Edition” DVD that contained more footage of Paul, George and Ringo together. Some of this is expected to also be included in the new “episode 9”, which will be streaming on Disney+ on November 28th.

But according to USA Today, the new episode is only 51 minutes long:

For the new ninth episode, director Oliver Murray takes a similar approach to what Jackson did with the 2021 Beatles documentary “Get Back” (itself an expanded recut of 1970’s “Let It Be”): He pulls the camera back and shares never-seen moments that were nipped off in the original edit. One such standout is an intimate glimpse of the three Beatles’ wives (Linda McCartney, Olivia Harrison and Barbara Bach) warmly greeting the reunited bandmates.

In a sneak peek at the episode provided to USA TODAY, the three old friends greet each other with hugs, happily jam together on “Blue Moon of Kentucky” and “Ain’t She Sweet,” and joke about teaming up for a stadium reunion tour.

Now, the clip of “Blue Moon of Kentucky” isn’t new; it was included on the Special Edition DVD in 2003.

And the same goes for “Ain’t She Sweet”.

It’ll be interesting to see if there’s some actual never-before-seen footage, as USA Today obviously didn’t know what has been seen before and what hasn’t.

The trailer that was just released had some footage that is definitely unseen

And the BIG question . . . .will the additional episode 9 be issued on DVD/BLURAY ? Or will the WHOLE (now expanded) Anthology be reissued on DVD/BLURAY ?
