The Beatles:Get Back to home video market in October?

The Russian “overground” DVD and Blu-ray online shop GoldDisk announces that “The Beatles:Get Back” DVD will be released on October 31, 2021. Although that’s unlikely as it’s a Sunday, an October release makes sense, since the accompanying book has been slated for its new publishing date the same month, October 12. The website uses the same promotional poster photo as was previously reported by us and other media (see above photo). Although heavily criticised by fans, the same photo adorns the film’s director Peter Jackson’s Facebook page and the imdb entry for the film, so it seems that it is going to be the official poster and DVD cover image.

“The Beatles:Get Back” documentary theatre premiere is still slated for 27 August, according to a recent article at Cinemablend.com. With October a plausible date for the home video release as well as the book, perhaps that will also be the month to see a DeLuxe 50th anniversary “Let It Be” album project come to fruition?

Golddisk describes the release:

Director: Peter Jackson

Production: 2021, USA, UK, New Zealand
Screen format: PAL

From the publisher about this DVD:
The film will recount the atmosphere in the studio during the recording of the famous album “Let It Be”, and will conclude with the recording of the band’s last live concert, which took place on the roof of number 3 Savile Row, London on January 30, 1969.

The poster looks fine to me. 100% better than Eight Days A Week anyway

I don’t know why people moan about the poster. It’s just a poster…
We’re not gonna be staring at it for 2 hours in a movie theatre…

Since it would be coming from Russia I won’t be buying it.

Listen to “Back in the USSR” which is the 1st track of the While Album and you may change your mind!

I can sort of understand the fuss about the poster and why fans see it as a drop in standards. In the 90s Aspinall era, it’s hard to imagine a poster this bad promoting a Beatles release. This doesn’t have the style of the BBC and Anthology promotions, or even the 1993 Red and Blue CD reissues and the Richard Avedon inspired ‘1’ promotion. Neil always ran Apple with class and no crap was ever put out. I couldn’t ever see Neil Aspinall approving of such a basic and garish poster to promote a major Beatles project.

You are right on Aspinall era promo poster. However, good old Neil used to put out a Beatles product every ten or fifteen years, or so. He even didn’t want to release the Beatles remasters on CD so.. it’s better now, I tell you.

I find it captures Ron Campbell’s style from Yellow Submarine.

Why couldn’t Klaus Voorman design the poster?

Fake news. It’s a preorder. They aren’t going to release the DVD and the Let it Be box at the same time. I’m sure they will air the the 3 part broadcast before they release the DVD.
