Petition: Bowie-McCartney

A group of teenagers has started a campaign trying to get Paul McCartney and David Bowie to collaborate on a song. Despite their age, they deeply appreciate and admire these two artists (who share a common common link in John Lennon) and, basically, they want to bring them together before “it’s too late”, as they say.
To this end, they have established a Facebook group, a Twitter account and created a petition page. Meanwhile, we’ll air the only collaboration between the two we have known of: Here’s Paul McCartney introducing and backing Mick Jagger and David Bowie’s impromptu performance of “Dancing in the Street” from the Prince’s Trust concert in 1986.
Judging by Bowie's latest (Sue or in the seasin of crime) and Macca's latest (Hope) – I don't see much common ground!
I think Bowie and Nick Cave has to come first (and as an ex-gf had come up with a concept, I mentioned it to Nick Cave in Brighton a few years back to a genuine interest)
I don't think anything of use could come from a Bowie/Macca collab and it just won't happen. Not now. Not ever. (You heard it here first!)
As for Macca and 'Hope' (the video, especially), I fear that he has re-entered the same ultra but not-on-it commercial mindset that led to 'Broad Street' and will not be deterred from undoing all he has recently and painstakingly built up.
The nadir of Macca is yet to come.

Bowie went on record many years ago stating that he respects what McCartney did with the Beatles, but not as a solo artist. That's why he worked with Lennon.
This will never happen, and I'm surprised you gave this non-story space on your Blog.
This is a really interesting prospect…
They're both so diverse as artist and extremely experimental. I'm sure they've both reached a place where, after all these years, it can be possible. Very exciting! It's also great that this is a fan-driven movement.

I heard that "Jet" was supposed to have several Bowie references like "Sufferagette" [City] and "The Major" [Tom]. It's probably just coincidence though.

Bowie has performed the following songs as far as I'm aware:
Across The Universe, Mother, Imagine, This Boy, Love Me Do and Try Some Buy Some,
But not Penny Lane contrary to popular opinion
Plenty of John, a George but no Paul
Bowie and McCartney are so far apart musically, vocally, stylistically, lyrically… You might as well suggest a McCartney- Nirvana collaboration … Oh wait a minute …
Love Me Do was mainly Paul's.
it's a bit too late for them to collaborate anyway, although there's been worse choice that came true concerning Bowie. That Dancing in the STreet collaboration with Jagger was quite god awful!, Under Pressure though a good song was quite abysmal using Mercury vocals (Queen? Pfff you must be joking, how uncool!). Bowie's latest is probably the worst song Bowie has ever released. The guy's a has been, that last album only went to no.1 because he hadn't released a single album for 10 year. It was all hype and nothing else. The guy's been finished after he released Let's dance 31 years ago. As for Macca, although he's still at the top regarding his ongoing leisurely world tour, that last song (Hope) was one of his weakest offering.
