Digital playlists from the Beatles

Digital playlists are labeled “EP’s” on Spotify and other streaming media providers

Lately, it has become a thing to release digital playlists on several streaming platforms. Some have gone and some remain, above is a screenshot of the ones currently available on Spotify, which is the platform we subscribe to. There has been no info on TheBeatles.com or elsewhere about these digital “EP’s”, but they are clearly themed and curated by someone. They are “official releases” from The Beatles, albeit not physical ones. Looking at these playlists, they seem to have been created with several purposes in mind:
– As a consolation during “lockdown” because of the Covid19 pandemic
– To promote lesser known Beatles material
– Soundtrack to working out at home
– Something for the kids

In putting together these lists, the newest versions of the songs have been used (with the exception of the newer mixes only found on Beatles films on DVD and Blu-ray), with the 090909 remasters for most of the material, songs that were number ones and therefore remastered for “1” in 2015, plus the remixes for Pepper (2017), White (2018) and Abbey (2019) for songs from those albums. A couple of volumes “Study Songs” are of particular interest, as they feature Beatles songs without the vocal tracks.
