No What You’re Doing take 11 ?? Crazy omission if true.

  2. RRNYC says:

With these constant repackages of the same old same old, is anyone else feeling raped by the uber-greedy Universal? Where’s the rooftop concert?

    • Cimrya Deal says:

The rooftop concert was released shortly after Get Back

    • Glenn Milam says:

The audio was remixed and available for streaming shortly after Get Back. I captured it from You Tube. And there is a bootleg DVD taken from both Get Back and Let It Be footage synced with the remixed audio that is very well done.

Personally, I think Apple is making a mistake by not releasing a physical version. But they didn’t ask me.

  3. Sean O’Leary says:

Are any changes to vols 1-3 anticipated ?

It will be very disappointing if there are no additional tracks included from all the recordings unearthed since 1995

PJ’s team have the original Star Club tapes now. Surely they can use MAL to extract 2 or 3 useable songs ?

  4. Ken says:

    No “Carnival of Light”?

  5. Benjamin Roosen says:

And when finaly Rubber Soul ..as a Super de Luxe set…
As a lot of re-and de- mix songs already available on the double Red..I suppose therefore that a lot of research – remaster ….mixing work done ..even anticipating towards earlier works…For Sale, With and Please please me
    Why waiting ?

  6. Jeffrey Ceragno says:

We need a total Live Anthology 1960-1966 with all those great tracks sitting on the floor

  7. Pablo Toledo Oñate says:

    – Carnival of light
    – First session Geoff Emerick (Besame mucho, Ask me why, Love me do, PS I love you)
    – Early demos gave away (One and one is two, Bad to me, Im in love, World without love, Its for you, Woman)
    – What goes on, early demo
    – Etcetera
    – Helter Skelter, extended version
    – Something, the version with jam at the end
    – The End, extended version with guitar outtakes
    – Some songs from Washington 64
    – Some songs from Australia 64

    – Some BBC tracks rejected from past releases (The night before, Im happy just to dance with you, I should hace know better, etc)

and please, no more takes of Strawberry fields, I am the Walrus, A day in the life or the same from always

  8. James Peet says:

There’s an unnatural feeling building inside my gut. Previously, I have bought the full kit and caBeatle, when it comes to deluxe/super deluxe versions of the albums. This seems a more naked grappling for power of your wallet. Only 13 unreleased tracks? I’m actually thinking about waiting until full details of the project is known. A bluray Anthology would be good. It seems to me that the further away we get from the Beatles’ time together, the greater the diminishing of the value-for-money ethos.

  9. Tc says:

    13 unreleased tracks not much

  10. Pablo says:

The new Free As A Bird 2025 mix has just been played on BBC radio 2 on Trevor Nelson’s show

  11. Eskimo says:

To announce Anthology 4 and then have more than half the tracks taken from previous boxsets is a major rip off.

  12. Wayne says:

I’m only interested in the fourth volume. Hopefully they will release it separately otherwise I will just stream them.

  13. DrRobert says:

    It’s the real track list – https://www.thebeatles.com/beatles-anthology-12lp-official-store-exclusive

I’m pretty disappointed in it, but also happy that I have all my bootlegs from collecting all these years. There’s so much more they could have done, but just like the super deluxes – play it safe, give fans a super small amount of new stuff, and make some head-scratching decisions.

  14. Jim Wagner says:

Only 13 new unreleased? What Goes On?

  15. Coldeb says:

It seems Disney are monopolising all the re-released Beatles films, i.e, ‘Get Back’….’Let it Be’ and now the TV series ‘The Anthology’ . Most Beatle fans want the restored versions on Blu-Ray or DVD , I don’t want to subscribe to a channel that mostly show S***e This will only encourage people to by Bootleg versions ( especially me !! ) Disney have no intention of putting the restorered versions of ‘Let It Be ‘ or ‘Anthology’ series on Disc since gaining the license, they just want us to subscribe to their s***e channel, stuff that for a lark !! .

  16. John Kaelin says:

It’s the bloody Beatles!! I’m excited. It’s 2025 and we are still getting first rate sets from the greatest band ever. Happy 30th Anniversary Anthology. I’ve preordered the CD set from the USA.

  17. Scott says:

Super disappointing. Not a day one purchase for me.

  18. You’re right. It’s not just the Beatles, it’s the bloody Beatles. After butchering many tracks on the 1967–1970 collection (2023), and then releasing the utterly superfluous Beatles ’64, we now get this half-haphazard collection, lacking in idea, cohesion, and vision. My G*d, what’s going on at Apple? C’mon Paul, now is the time to re-release London Town/Back to the Egg. You can finally beat the Beatles and John Lennon — both.

  19. Blakey says:

Absolutely scandalous. An insult to hardcore fans and a blatant cash in. Instead of a Rubber Soul or Magical Mystery Tour reissue, we get this guff. Many of the tracks already released and as for the extra episode? I am not optimistic. Might have known Disney would have their noses in the trough again. The Beatles (and Apple) are now the Manchester United of music. A once great institution with hugely loyal fans and a glorious past. Now, just a corporate brand, a money making machine. To hell with the fans an even maintaining a good name. Now merely for flogging ‘merch’ and filling the already bulging coffers with loot. No matter how substandard the end product is.

And, what is this permanently in bed with Disney thing about? Didn’t their time with Allen Klein teach them anything? It took till 1989 to get (almost) everything back in their hands. The original Anthology was released by Apple alone. Now it appears the people at Apple can’t scratch their bums without asking Disney’s permission.

  20. DrRobert says:

I sadly envision the “new episode” to be the extra stuff from the Threetles “session” that is on the existing DVD set.

  21. Glenn Milam says:

There is now almost as much material released from the archives as there was officially released during the 60s/70s. I think the well has run dry.

It would be nice to have a physical release of the Washington show and the Rooftop performance.

As for Budokan, I recently sold my bootleg to the local used record shop. Sound quality was fine, but the performance was pretty weak. The quiet Japanese audience revealed how lazy they had become as performers.

    • Andrew H says:

The Beatles in 1964 were still a very tight, great rock band – as the excellent quality Melbourne concert footage demonstrates (how about a physical release focussing on the Beatles world touring OTHER than the USA – and including all the Melbourne footage in it?), but the 1966 live Beatles were ‘enthusiastically sloppy’ at best and, as Budokan makes clear, bored and sloppy (or stoned) most of the time. Really the only plus to those final concert era recordings is the updated song list, even though its the newer tracks, the ones they can’t perform in their sleep on autopilot, that suffer the most.

  22. Michael B. says:

The new 4 volume has a strange selection.. Only 2 remixes, and the rest it’s like a greatest hits of outtakes, more like the “Sessions” bootleg. I was expecting outtakes from the 90s recordings but I guess we have to wait 30 years more to hear those sessions. The rest of the collection only received a remaster treatment (or no?), with maybe some restoration and improvements on the early recordings. A remix of the 6 discs original discs is too much work for 1 year of work? I don’t know, just guessing

  23. DrRobert says:

Outtakes from the ‘90s sessions are gonna be slim, if at all. Digital recording as it is, they were superimposing/overdubbing onto an existing thing, not doing take after take. Given the Pro Tools state at the time, and hard drive sizes, I would wager that what we’re hearing is what is preserved.

  24. Rickenbacker620 says:

What about the original…complete..version of While My Guitar…with the backwards guitar?? Yet again…more missed opportunities…

  25. Tim Wilson says:

I do think it will be interesting to see/hear how to tracks were improved and the video as well. The YouTube samples I heard from That Will Be the Day and Free as a Bird sounded better than I remember them sounding. For me, that makes it worth the purchase.

  26. peto1982 says:

What a huge disappointment Anthology 4 is. The eagerness to repeat the same old stuff, what we’ve heard over and over again, take 500 of Strawberry Fields Forever. So much high-class material that will remain jealously guarded for years or decades, if, if, they decide to continue with SDE. Most likely, it will never see the light of day. I’ve completely lost hope of ever hearing Carnival of Light, the extended version of Helter Skelter, or Its All Too Much, among other studio or live gems. I think the most redeeming aspect will be the entire chapter dedicated to the ’90s sessions, which will be thrilling for any fan. You have to consider that in a decade or so, Paul and Ringo will most likely be gone, so perhaps that will be the moment when The Beatles and their releases will slowly begin to fade

  27. Ross Penman says:

I’m disappointed that they have chosen to duplicate so many tracks again and given the high cost of this project , it would have been a better deal for collectors if Anthology 4 contained 100% of unreleased tracks don’t you think?

  28. Michael B. says:

    from the beatles website:

“Anthology 4 features 13 previously unreleased tracks and 17 songs selected from Super Deluxe versions of five classic albums. In addition to fascinating outtakes dating from 1963 to 1969, the album includes new 2025 mixes by Jeff Lynne of ‘Free As A Bird’ and ‘Real Love’. Furthermore, Anthology 4 presents 17 tracks that were previously unavailable on CD”

    The explanation is this…

    13 Unreleased Tracks:

    If I Fell (Take 11)

  29. jeffhitz says:

The biggest question about the new videos – Paul driving the boat – white hair (Original broadcast, VHS) or black hair (DVD)??

  30. Robert lovejoy says:

MR Harrison did not wish Carnival of light to be released, which is a shame, I’m disappointed with this boxset so many great songs could of gone on this boxset.

  31. Mr Marks says:

What about a remix of Hey Jude with George’s electric guitar in. There must be some recordings of it, maybe in unnumbered warm up takes. Anybody knows?

  32. Ghb Mdhjhw says:

…….the year is 2270…….it’s the 300th anniversary of the breakup of the Beatles…….a new edition of Anthology 24 has just been released featuring a remixed version of the stream of urine passed at EMI studios on August 8, 1969…….the box set includes a detailed description of the restroom where it took place….unfortunately, it’s unknown which of them was there that morning………

  33. Ray Rawcliffe says:

Excellent selection.. for.. the re-issue… Lilo.

  34. Ricardo GS says:

    Hi!
I’m copying & pasting what I found on Beatles News and Information (& forum for the Beatles News Briefs podcast) –Steve Marinucci’s group. The author of the original post is Enrique Esteban, to whom I am very grateful.

To help people who already own the original Beatles Anthology Vol.1-3 decide whether it is worth it to buy the new Beatles Anthology box coming on November 21st, many have asked if there is any noticeable difference between the previous mixes and the 2025 mixes since the track listing is the same on those first three volumes.

Several people have A/B’d the previous version vs the new 2025 version. You’ll have to decide if the changes, coupled with Anthology 4, are meaningful enough to entice you to buy the new set. This appears to be the best summary of all the differences:

The following speech tracks were cleaned up
John Lennon Speech 1 (We were four guys)
John Lennon Speech 2 (Brian was a beautiful guy)
Brian Epstein Speech 1 (I secured them an audition)

That’ll Be The Day and In Spite of All the Danger are mono MAL remixes with a slight stereo ambience effect. The section in between the two tracks has been trimmed by 1 second.

The following tracks have been remixed in mono with MAL.
    Hallelujah I Love Her So
    You’ll Be Mine
    Cayenne
    I’ll Get You (London Palladium)
Everybody’s Trying to Be My Baby (Shea Stadium)
    Rock and Roll Music (Budokan)
    She’s a Woman (Budokan)

The following live tracks have been remixed in stereo with MAL.
Twist and Shout (Royal Variety Performance)
All My Loving (Ed Sullivan Show)
    Help! (Blackpool Night Out)

The following tracks had their stereo narrowed.
    Tomorrow Never Knows (Take 1)
    Across the Universe (Take 2)

The following tracks were originally mono but now have varying amounts of stereo ambience applied to them.
Love Me Do (EMI Recording Test)
    One After 909 (False Starts)
    One After 909 (Takes 4+5)
Can’t Buy Me Love (Takes 2+1)
You Can’t Do That (Take 6)
And I Love Her (Take 2)
    A Hard Day’s Night (Take 1)
    You Know What to Do
    Mr. Moonlight (Take 1)
    Strawberry Fields Forever (Demo)
The Fool on the Hill (Demo)
Happiness Is a Warm Gun (Demo)

Many of the fades are different by very minor amounts, resulting in a bit extra audio on some tracks. Bolded tracks feature previously unreleased/unbootlegged audio.

The following tracks are longer at the end
The Sheik of Araby, 0.9 seconds
    Shout, 4 seconds
    I’ll Be Back (Take 3), 1.2 seconds
You Know What to Do, 1.2 seconds
    No Reply (Demo), 0.8 seconds
Leave My Kitten Alone, 3 seconds
    Yesterday (Take 1), 0.3 seconds
    It’s Only Love, 0.4 seconds
    Norwegian Wood, 0.4 seconds
I’m Only Sleeping (Rehearsal), 0.3 seconds
Don’t Pass Me By, 0.6 seconds
    Maxwell’s Silver Hammer, 0.8 seconds
    Something, 1.5 seconds
The following tracks are longer at the beginning
    Mother Nature’s Son, 0.1 seconds
    I Will, 0.3 seconds

The following tracks are sourced from previous SDEs
Helter Skelter (Take 2), 2018 stereo version edited down to Anthology length
Mean Mr. Mustard (Demo), 2018 mix narrowed
    Polythene Pam (Demo), 2018 mix
    Glass Onion (Demo), 2018 mix
    Piggies (Demo), 2018 mix narrowed
Honey Pie (Demo), 2018 mix edited down to Anthology length
Oh! Darling (Jam), 2021 mix including the edited section from 0:05-0:09 and the misplaced guitar note at 3:50 that is on several LIBSDE tracks.
Get Back (Rooftop Take 3), from 2022 rooftop release

And some changes that don’t fit any category
There’s a clap at 0:31 of Shout that was removed in the original release
Shout has been edited further, 0:26-0:28 of the Anthology mix have been cut out
Mr. Moonlight (Take 4) is now in stereo
4:21-4:29 of You Know My Name is now mono when it was previously stereo.

  35. James Peet says:

A thought occurs. I wonder who is in charge of the SDE project. Forgetting the 50th anniversary of Pepper, White Album and Abbey Road, they knew what albums were in the Beatles’ canon, but it seems to me that they changed their approach after the White Album SDE. With Abbey Road, Let It Be and Revolver, all the tracks were available on both cd or vinyl. This is fine, but for the cds, this meant that the running time was the same as the vinyl.

There’s somewhere in the region of 78 minutes running time available on a cd. Now with this Anthology 4 set, they’ve put all the cd material on 3 records. It’s a shame they couldn’t adopt this method for the SDEs. With the White Album, there is just the Esher Demos and the 2018 mix of the album available on vinyl. With Pepper, the only vinyl was for the 2017 mix of the album. They could have put a solid plan of attack with each release, rather than (almost) making it up as they went along.

It’s all becoming quite a mess.

  36. Michael B. says:

i’m seeing Anthology 4 more as a bonus disc than anything else. I think they are keeping more of the outtakes, demos and live recordings for future SDE of the remaining albums

    • Shad Radna says:

That’s true, but like most bonus discs, it’s really just an incentive to buy. The trouble is that it’s a bonus disc that’s padded out with stuff we’ve already got (yeah yeah vinyl fans, we know) simply to make it the same length as a real volume of Anthology, to try to convince people that their Anthology collection is now incomplete. So it’s adding 33% to the price of the box (i.e. it represents 25% of the final price). All that, just to make you buy a load of stuff you’ve already got, and probably rarely listen to, and about which you’ve probably never thought, “Wow, I wish I could hear that in what someone thinks is marginally better sound quality,” or, “Wow, it’s a shame that that take broke down in the final verse, but it’s an even bigger shame that the drums aren’t in the middle of the stereo picture.”

  37. Wavy Gravy says:

    The microscopes magnify the tears…

  38. Mikey says:

They should release a stripped down version of Now and Then without strings. I can hardly hear George’s acoustic rhythm and electric guitars from 1995 since they sound too buried in the mix. And yes, here’s hoping for a release of all the outtakes from the Rubber Soul sessions one day.

  39. Rob Marshall says:

The original Anthology CDs are around 60 to 68 minutes long, which gives 30-45 minutes space so it would have been quite easy to slot the new tracks into the existing volumes which, combined with the sound upgrade, would have made this a more attractive purchase. But this nonsense, I’ll pass.
