All Things Must Pass rumoured

Word on the net is that an announcement regarding the 50th anniversary edition of George Harrison’s 3LP from 1970, “All Things Must Pass” is imminent. The album was previewed with a 2020 mix of the title track in November.

If the rumours are true, we can expect an announcement as soon as Thursday this week, and that the ultimate edition will be a Super DeLuxe 8 LP/5 CD + Blu-Ray. Cheaper formats also likely, we guess. August 6 is the proposed release date for the set. There is also a rumoured bonus track list, corresponding to discs 3, 4 and 5 of the Super DeLuxe CD edition:

This simply measures with Olivia’s comments in Rolling Stone. We’ve heard it all before on bootlegs, but their tapes are better.

    >> This year marks the 50th anniversary of All Things Must Pass, and Dhani and his archivists have unearthed hours of unreleased material and unheard songs from those sessions. “A lot of it has been bootlegged, but we have better versions,” says Olivia. “We have all the 24-tracks of All Things Must Pass, and we found lots of different takes and talking in the studio.” <<

Please, sell me something I don't already own – like soundboard recordings of the '74 tour, and the film to go with it. We all know the Harrison family have it – get it into the market.

There’s plenty there that you might not have Ian. I look forward to this set immensely. It goes against something I read about Dhani allegedly saying that the record companies didn’t want Harrison product to sell but if the high-price tag that’s suggested for this album is to be believed, then the same companies are very confident of a big seller.

A tape box with several takes of “Sour Milk Sea” written on it, has been rumored for years. Finally, we’ll get to hear one of those takes! My hope is that it’s a good take like, “Dehra Dun” and not shambolic like the “Get Back” outtake is.
