The Long and Winding Road 2021 mix

Today, the new mix of “The Long and Winding Road” was released publicly on streaming platforms and YouTube, as a preview of the upcoming 2021 “Super Deluxe” version of the “Let It Be” album.

So, basically this is Giles Martin’s treatment of the Phil Spector arrangement of the song, mixed anew from the multitracks, after they had been brought into the digital domain. This means that the choir and orchestra are both still present.

31. January 1969: The day after the rooftop concert, The Beatles gave a concert in the Apple Studio without an audience, to capture on tape their final performances of the songs that weren’t rooftop-friendly: “Two Of Us”, “Let It Be” and “The Long and Winding Road”.

    could it be the same as on Anthology 3 ? (same as the Let it be album version but without orchestration)

    I would also have loved an instrumental/orchestral version of The Long and Winding Road. Not unlike the version of Something off the Abbey Road box set. I know Macca hates Spector’s version (because it was authorised by Allen Klein), but I – like many others – grew up with this version and I have a soft spot for it and always have done.
